Embracing Growth, One Step at a Time.
Hello! My name is Domenica Alioto. I'm a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern (RMHCI).
Helping patients heal from trauma is one of the most challenging things I do. Yet, trauma can be the catalyst for personal growth, leading individuals to discover the inner strength and resilience they never knew they had. I discovered my passion for trauma work during my time with Crisis Text Line as a Crisis Counselor volunteer (CCv). I developed a better understanding of how trauma teaches us that healing is not about forgetting; it's about embracing scars and using them as reminders of individual strength and resilience. Trauma can include a wide range of situations. These range from serious injury, sexual violence, and life-threatening events to being bullied, chronic abuse and neglect, and experiencing homelessness. Trauma therapy, then, should be not only comprehensive but also customized. Clients with trauma may cope in different ways and may need treatment to help them with various difficulties they face in everyday life. This is where I can provide a safe and confidential space to feel validated in your experiences, thoughts, feelings, and concerns.
The truth is that when we experience trauma, especially if it occurs early in life, our nervous system can become stuck in survival states—whether it’s heightened in hyperarousal or diminished in hypoarousal. The good news is that the brain is neuroplastic, and healing is possible. Finding someone to set out on that healing journey with you is important; if you’re ready to talk, get unstuck, and reclaim who you are, let’s talk.
